      All of our suppliers distribute catalogs and in most of these catalogs two different websites are promoted.

      They are the catalog companies' own website and a website for DirectGardening.com. Each website takes you to a different company.

      DirectGardening.com is promoted in all of the catalogs distributed by our suppliers as another site to view gardening products, however, not all products offered by all suppliers can be found on DirectGardening.com.

      DirectGardening.com is ideal for those customers who do not have a catalog and enjoy browsing through our detailed product selections. DirectGardening.com's convenient product categories make it simple and fast to find just the right plant.

      Each supplier also has a "Quick Order" site that is customized for each catalog that is mailed, and is designed to facilitate easy ordering by people with a catalog in hand. In most cases the "Quick Order" website is promoted on the bottom of every 3rd, or 4th page in the catalogs and on the order form. The "Quick Order" website allows you to order any product that is featured in the catalog you have, unless the product is out of stock for the season. Currently the following companies offer a "Quick Order" site:

      Am I ordering from the company I think I am?

      DirectGardening.com publishes their catalog online and does not send out a paper catalog. If you are viewing our products and putting together an order using this website, you are ordering from the Direct Gardening Company.

      If you are wishing to obtain the products and pricing listed in a printed catalog that you were mailed, you need to go to the company's website whose catalog you have. Their address should be on the order form and on the back of the catalog above the advertisement for DirectGardening.com. If you still have difficulty finding it, email with the name of the catalog and we will provide you with that companies address.

      Direct Gardening is advertised in all of our suppliers catalogs since they help supply this site. But Direct Gardening does not carry every item that our suppliers offer or at the same prices.

      How our suppliers Quick Order sites work?

      All quick order sites are offered by our suppliers and are specific to the catalog they were built for. If you have a catalog and order through a quick order site you are placing your order with that company supplier and not with Direct Gardening. If you do not have a catalog, in hand, the quick order site will be impossible to use. If you do not have a catalog but would like one, you may request a catalog be mailed to you, or you may stay on this website, DirectGardening.com and shop our online catalog for a selection of over 1,000 products.

      When first accessing a quick order site you will be asked to provide a department number before starting the order process. The Department number can be found on the back cover of your catalog, near your name and mailing information. If you are looking at a one page advertisement or flyer, the department number will be located as part of our name or address on the order form.

      Once you have provided the department number and clicked on the "Begin Order Process" button, you will be prompted to enter the item number of the first product you would like to order. This is the item number from the catalog, a 4-digit code. It is not necessary to enter any letters which appear before the 4-digit code.

      The item's name and pricing/quantity options will be displayed. You then select the quantity you want. Then click on "Add to Cart".

      You will now see your shopping cart. Buttons under the shopping cart offer the options of checking out, or continue shopping. You may also remove items from your shopping cart from this screen. If you select the continue shopping option you will be prompted to enter the next product number. Continue in this manner until all the items you wish to purchase are entered into your shopping cart.

      How to shop and order at DirectGardening.com

      DirectGardening.com is a site that offers over 1,000 products from several of the largest and oldest nurseries in the United States. DirectGardening.com is designed as a full service shopping site complete with pictures and descriptions of products.

      To shop at DirectGardening.com customers "drill down" to the product that they would like to order through searches. Starting with a search based on a product category located in the left hand column, 1 cent sales items, What's New section, a specific item search that is entered in the search field, using the Favorites section, or using one of the selections in the Plants By Type search option, you locate the individual plants and supplies.

      From this product detail screen you should be able to click the "Add to Cart" button next to the quantity you desire. You will now see your shopping cart. Buttons under the shopping cart offer the options of checking out or continue shopping. You may also remove items from your shopping cart from this screen. Continue adding items in this manner until all items you wish to purchase are in your shopping cart.

      I am having problems ordering

      (SPECIAL NOTE: 02/17/01 - Through continued testing activities, we have found that some versions of browser software will not run JAVA script programs when their security configuration is set on "High." The pages on our sites that are part of the checkout process are secured using SSL technology which can be confirmed through Network Solutions. A security setting of medium, at least on a temporary basis may solve the problem you are experiencing.

      (SPECIAL NOTE: 02/21/01 - We have been researching WebTV and the differences between WebTV technology and other commonly used web technologies. It has come to our attention that customers using some versions of WebTV will likely have problems using our sites. We will continue to research these problems. Your help in this effort is important to our ability to make technical changes to our sites. If you are having problems, please email a description of your problem, and include information regarding the version of WebTV you are using. (You can find out the version you have by entering "&vers;" (without the quotation marks) into your spellchecker word list. Based on feedback from many of our customers, WebTV version "Plus 5.5" does have problems with secure websites, and some JAVA script programs. WebTV fix version "Plus 5.5.5h" does correct many of these problems, and we expect that the newest WebTV version "Plus 5.6" will correct additional problems. It is our understanding that there are up to 6 versions of WebTV currently being used, and many of the older versions DO HAVE problems with some of the technologies used within our sites.

      Over the past year we have heard from customers who have problems shopping at one of our "Quick Order" sites or at DirectGardening.com. In almost all cases we have been able to help by providing the following advise:

      1. Sometimes websites and browser software can get confused, and lose track of each other. A good first step in problem resolution is always to close your browser software, and maybe even get offline, and then start over again.

      2. We always suggest using the most recent version of available software. Customers using older versions of browser software may experience problems, especially during the checkout process as we use JAVA programming during our error checking processes, which may not be compatible with older versions of browser software. (Free upgrades are usually available by visiting the appropriate vendor's website.)

      3. If problems persist, please provide specific information regarding the problem you are experiencing such as the page you are on, and any error message you are getting. Also, please provide information regarding the browser software you are using, brand and version. This information can be sent to our for assistance.

      4. If all else fails, you may still order from one of our supplier's catalogs by calling the phone number in the catalog, or by mailing your order. However, we are very interested in tracking down problems so we can make our sites the best that they can be.

      Shopping Cart Details and Completing Your Order

      When you have finished shopping and have clicked on the 'check out' button from a shopping cart you will see a personal information page. This personal information page includes your billing and shipping addresses, phone number, email, any special instructions you feel are necessary and the billing information. Please fill out this page completely. For the shipping address, use the address where you receive your mail. (If for some reason you are returned to this page a second time, typically as a result of continued shopping or incomplete information, most of the information will be filled out for you, however some information will not auto-fill on this page so check every line carefully.)

      The coupon field on this page is for entering the coupon number for any special promotions that you received through email newsleter or suppliers catalogs. This area is not to be used to redeem merchandise credit certificates. Merchandise credit certificates can not be redeemed online and an order using them must be mailed in.

      Once the personal information page is completely filled out, and you press the 'submit' button at the bottom, you will be presented with a "review receipt." YOUR TRANSACTION IS NOT YET FINAL - The receipt will not have an order number in the top right corner yet.

      Please review the receipt for accuracy. Your free gifts, products you ordered, and shipping policy information should be seen on this receipt. In addition, your order is totaled on this review receipt but no order number is assigned yet.

      At the bottom of the review receipt is a button to confirm your order. Click on "PURCHASE". When you click on this button, you will be presented with a final receipt. THIS IS YOUR FINAL ORDER. The receipt will have an order number in the top right corner and a thank message indicating that your order has been received for processing will be displayed at the top. Please print a copy of this page for your records.

      Did you receive my order?

      If you followed the instructions in the Shopping Cart Detail and Completing Your Order section above and received an order number, then yes we have received your order. If you did not reach this final screen, your computer locked-up or you lost the connection before viewing your order number, then your order MAY not have been received by us. Please DO NOT RE-ENTER your order before E-mailing for verification. Sometimes the order may have gone through before you lost the connection. We would like to verify non-receipt of your order before you re-submit it.
